Let’s talk about paddle-ing. Super important. It’s what gets you out into the waves, to catch a wave, back to shore etc. my arms were weak as I hadn’t paddle-d in awhile . Here’s a video of me showing you what it looks like. If you’re trying to get into surfing just paddle around !! Get the hang of it. You have to start somewhere !

Sometimes you just have to sit on the beach and relax. That’s a huge part of my life. I try to walk to beach and practice grounding everyday. The earth heals ! Take your shoes off on the grass or the beach and see if you feel better 😘 even though my feet are technically touching a cement wall here.. I was barefoot on the beach all day 😆

The most important thing about ANY sport is to be kind to others and have fun. Someone decided to critique me on my last post based off my form on the board. I never once said that my form was good in that post. I was just caught in the moment having fun. That’s all the matters. Who cares if you look stupid as long as you’re having fun. Who cares if your board is not cool, or the waves are small or if you were too far back on the board or whatever the case may be, just HAVE FUN and Be kind to others. 💞

Paddle-ing is one of the more important aspects of surfing. Paddle-ing is how you get yourself out into the wave and are able to push yourself into catching waves. I’m going to release a video soon with the proper technique. Practice practice practice! I love to just get out and paddle around to gain strength !

Wakesurf 101: you can start behind the boat with a rope and then let it go once you feel comfortable in the wave. I’m going to start making in depth instructional videos but I hope if you’re involved in these sports my tip help! The way to tell if you are actually surfing the wave is to use your body weight, to move forward towards the boat you lean your upper body forward, this will put weight on the front foot. To move away from the boat you put weight on the back foot. You can practice moving back and forth til it feels comfortable when you have slack in the rope (not reliant on the rope to stay up) then you’re surfing!

Surf Report: 🏄🏼♀️ chaotic/wind!! Weather is super important when it comes to surfing and kitesurfing! Today is a great day to kite as it’s very windy. There are some waves but they are not clean. They have wind chop making them chaotic waves. It’s not fun in this type of condition for me to do either sport. As I continue surf reports you will start to recognize the different elements :🌊💘

Sometimes you have to sit around and wait for a good set. Surfing helps with patience. It also requires balance to sit on your board in the water . I have been going on without waves to practice the basics so I’m ready when there are waves 🌊

Have you ever heard of a handle pass? This is something wakeboarders do while riding. You can practice this on a trampoline before taking it to the water. Usually wakeboarders do this trick in the air or on a rail or feature. You start with both hands on your wakeboard handle, as you jump in the air and spin you release one hand, do a 360 and pass the handle to your other hand. Something fun to try 🤩

Make sure whatever you do, is all about fun. Don’t put so much pressure on yourself. I used to get angry when the conditions were not ideal, I would take it too seriously. Now I am just thankful I can get out there and surf or whatever sport I am doing. You can apply this to your life... don’t be so serious and be thankful

I went out in the ocean today and just practiced paddle-ing .. The waves were non existent.. since my arms have been so weak I’ve been trying to get more stamina in the water. When the waves are up you paddle a lot and can’t afford to get tired! If surfing is something you want to get into, use those arms and paddle around!

My favorite thing about the beach is getting that Vitamin D! I always feel refreshed after some time in the sun. Although it’s important to wear sunscreen sometimes it can block your vitamin D production. Vitamin D is essential for your health!

Board tour : this is a wakeboard! Wakeboards usually have boots similar to a snowboard binding. This allows more board control and stability while on the water. You can ride with fins on the board for more traction or without fins if you like to hit rails and ride park!

I’ve been wakeboarding and wake surfing so much this week that I am very sore! Here is one of my favorite stretches I like to do before and after my sports. This stretches the quads and the front of your body. I tilt my pelvis forward to give a better stretch. Make sure you stretch people!!

Wakesurfing 101 : the cool thing about surfing behind the boat is that you do not need a rope to keep surfing. Usually you need a rope to get up on the board but the goal is to balance yourself in the wave so you can actually ride the wave and not rely on the rope. To balance it’s important to keep your knees bent and hover over the board. If you shift your body weight forward you move closer to the boat, if you shift you weight towards your back leg you slow down. It’s a balancing act!

Since I haven’t posted a surfing video in awhile, this is what wakesurfing is! Surfing behind the boat. The boat creates the wave for you and it’s super consistent. So you can surf as long as you’re able! Unlike the ocean which can be finicky !

The sun is one of the best parts about surfing, it feels good to be outside and in the sun. Although it feels good you can get skin damage and sun burns. I actually wear a lot of sunscreen to protect myself and my tattoos as those can fade. The better you take care of your skin the better you look as you age! Let me know if you wear sunscreen and what kind.
